Colonia, Uruguay – One of our family vacation highlights

I had the pleasure of spending a day in Colonia, Uruguay on recent family vacation. I was definitely a highlight. The town was so pretty and very easy to walk around and enjoy. The “Street of Sighs” well deserves it’s name. It was also the host to one of the best wines (a 2008 Tempranillo) we enjoyed on this trip that included Argentina and Chile. The kids enjoyed playing a game of chess in the street below the lighthouse. The ruins of San Miguel Bastion are very accessible and make for some amazing photos. If we had known what a lovely town it was, we would have planned to stay at least a day longer.
